Norvite keep countrywear cool

Through its farm and country stores, Norvite has become recognised as a leading agricultural, equestrian and rural retailer across Aberdeenshire over the past 11 years.

It has manufactured specialist animal feeds and supplements for some 43 years and the company holds a Royal Warrant from the Queen.

Accustomed to supplying pet and horse requirements directly to farmers, the owners recognised the potential to do this better and to offer a wider range of products, so the first store was opened in a converted warehouse at the HQ, near Insch, in 2005.

The second at the company’s other Aberdeenshire manufacturing site, near Oldmeldrum, followed in 2008 as the flagship store, and the third store opened at Deeside Activity Park four years ago, giving a good spread of locations.

This winter, Norvite farm and country goes online, expanding access to its products to an even wider area.

Having started out by focusing on selling feed, pet and equestrian supplies, the shops soon branched out into the clothing lines for which they are known. One of the first brands stocked was Dubarry and this remains one of the top ranges sold in all three stores with its iconic country boots and gorgeous clothing.

Other key brands include Schoffel, Musto, Aigle, and RM Williams for country clothing while there are fabulous horsey styles from the likes of Kingsland, Pikeur, Schockemohle and Ariat.

The staff are all trained to fit all the kit from country boots to rider’s safety wear as well as being a good source of advice on feeding your pets, horses and livestock.

Much of the clothing and footwear in the stores is from covetable premium brands, but there are also plenty of entry-level products to tempt any budget and lots of fun products from brands like Joules.

The stores are careful to select their stock according to what both they and their customers like, and this has proved to be a successful recipe – plenty of essentials mixed with a few luxuries that are not found elsewhere in the area.

This is very much a family business and personal preferences are found in many of the items in store, often having influenced buying decisions.

Norvite farm and country stores are a favourite destination for discerning country folk who want to find the best of stuff in a friendly and knowledgeable environment. A great find for a day out from Aberdeen, and whether you head to Insch, Oldmeldrum or Deeside, a warm welcome awaits.
