Living so close, we may take some of our homeland’s surroundings for granted.

But four Scottish isles have been hailed among the top 10 best British islands for travellers.

Arran, Skye, Lewis, Harris and Orkney have all been ranked by TripAdvisor as some of the best holiday destinations for adventurers.

Joining top locations like Scilly and Jersey, Skye came in at number five while Orkney followed at number six with Lewis and Harris edging in eight place.

The hotspots were rated based on reviews rankings of their hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions and should definitely be considered when booking your summer holiday.
