An online fundraising effort for the families of Eilidh MacLeod and Laura MacIntyre gathered thousands of pounds in just a few hours last night.
Two funds for the Barra girls caught up in the Manchester terror attack had gathered almost £20,000 yesterday evening and was rapidly attracting fresh donations.
There was no word last night on the whereabouts of Eilidh, 14 – while friend Laura, 15, remained in hospital receiving treatment for burns sustained in the bombing.
One online fundraising campaign was set up by Alan Anderson.
On his page he said: “We are trying to raise some money towards the costs associated with the families of Eilidh MacLeod and Laura MacIntyre, two young girls who left the island of Barra to go to a concert and were caught up in the terrible events in Manchester.”
The fund, started late yesterday afternoon had passed £8,000 in the evening, gathered from nearly 300 supporters.
