The islands are busy with summer visitors – especially with the increased number of cruise ship passengers arriving at the harbour in Lerwick. Chief Inspector Lindsay Tulloch said: “It is great to see so many people choosing to visit Shetland this summer. “All we are asking is that people are aware of the increased number of pedestrians, particularly in Lerwick, and drive with that in mind. “Please drive slowly and carefully in areas where there is likely to be pedestrians and give due consideration to others using the roads. “That way visitors to the islands should be able to experience the best of Shetland, while locals can go about their business safely”.
