An Aberdeenshire village is hoping to establish its own Tug o’ War team for the first time in its history.
Ballater has never had a dedicated group to take part in the highland games around the region, but is holding a founding meeting today for anyone keen to take the strain.
Scott Fraser, vice-chairman of the Ballater Highland Games, said: “We want anyone with any interest whatsoever to come along. If we can form both female and male teams, that would be superb.
“We’ve never had our own team in this area – only our Royal Guard team which changes every year depending on which Company of the Royal Regiment of Scotland is here.
“We train from scratch with only a couple of weeks to do so – it would be great to have a team available to train all year round.”
The meeting is being held today in the Barrel, Glenaden Hotel, Ballater at 7pm on Saturday, May 13. For more information contact: ardmeanach1@yahoo.co.uk
