Owners of an Aberdeen store have received an outpouring of support after announced it will close its doors for the last time this weekend.

Granite Reef, which sold surf, snowboard and skateboard clothing and accessories, posted on social media: “Sad news everyone, it is with heavy hearts we announce that on Saturday 7th October we’ll be closing our doors for the last time. As such, the closing down sale continues, with up to 50% off everything in store, and your last chance to grab some shop branded tees and hats.

“HUGE thanks to all our customers, friends, family, suppliers and everyone in between for their support over the last 24 years. It’s been a pleasure folks.”

The post has been shared 117 times and garnered hundreds of comments.

Fiona Green wrote: “End of an era. GR has been a part of our life in the last few years in a way we could never have imagined. Always a pleasure to pop in store whether it was to purchase, get advice or just to drop off donuts.
Aberdeen is losing a huge asset with the knowledge you guys collectively have. Keep in touch x”

And Graham Bagnall posted: “Gutted to hear this confirmed Gordon – you’ve been the hub of the local surf scene since the early days when you were genuinely stoked to see another surfer, through to today’s crowds…
It seems inexplicable that a hardcore few could sustain a business that the hoards cannot, but I guess cheap online warehouses are the new reality ?
Good luck mate with whatever is next – at least you lived the dream for nearly 1/4 of a century!! ?”
