A north-east woman who only picked up a paint brush 18 months is preparing for a major art event.
Rachael Brown, from Macduff, will exhibit at the Aberdeen Art Fair at in the city next weekend.
The self-taught painter will be showcasing her work at the iconic Beach Ballroom.
Mrs Brown’s husband went out and bought art supplies for her and set up an easel and canvas in their living room.
She said: “Around 18 months ago, my husband David, believing I had something artwise, went out and bought some supplies and set up an easel and a canvas right in the middle of our sitting room, thinking he just might be able to tempt and tease that ‘something’ out of me. It didn’t work.
“I didn’t even know where to start. Undeterred, David went about starting the canvas off with a few splashes of colour.
“A few nights later, I walked over to it again, and picked up a brush but this time something happened, something began to flow.”
The Aberdeen Art Fair is being held between September 7- 9 from 10am-5pm.
