Search for missing Peterhead man intensifies

Ramunas Spakauskas's family have been informed about the find.
Ramunas Spakauskas's family have been informed about the find.

It has now been a week since Ramunas Spakauskas was last seen in Peterhead and concerns for his safety continue to grow.

Police yesterday signalled their intention to intensify their search of the Clerkhill area of the town, where Mr Spakauskas lives.

The 36-year-old Lithuanian national was last seen around 8.30am on Thursday August 23 in the Bayview Crescent area of Peterhead.

Police are revisiting areas of the town to speak to members of the public in a bid to find the father-of-four.

Mr Spakauskas works as a cleaner in Mintlaw at Macduff Shellfish and is described as around 5ft 10 inches and of slim build with short light brown hair.

When last seen he was wearing a black hooded top with green stripes on the sleeves, dark blue jeans and grey trainers.

Searches of garages and out-buildings in the Clerkhill area have already been carried out, while officers have also visited Aden Country Park and other areas of Buchan.

Inspector Paul McCruden said: “It is so important that members of the public come forward and tell us if they think they have seen Ramunas anytime since Thursday August 23.

“This helps us to build up a picture of Ramunas’ movements and will hopefully allow us to trace him and ensure that he is OK.

“We are very grateful to everyone who has been in touch with us and to those who have assisted us with our enquiries.

“This morning we plan to have a visible presence at the Clerkhill shops and in the Peterhead Town Centre and Cairntrodlie areas.

“We will be engaging with the public and showing them pictures of Ramunas.

“We would ask that anyone who has information that might assist us call 101.”
