Bumper crowds turned out for some Easter fun in the sun at attractions across the north-east over the weekend.

Pitmedden Gardens, Castle Fraser and Balmedie Beach were just some of the spots hosting family fun, such as Easter egg hunts and craft sessions.

Monique Lanz, events supervisor at Pitmedden Garden, said their weekend event had been “brilliant”, with 1,500 people taking part.

She said: “We had 850 visitors over the first two days and hit the 600 mark for Sunday.

“We had a variety of clues in the garden and children had to guess what eggs came from different types on animals to win their prizes.

“We also had one of our gardeners on scene to teach them about the local wildlife.

“The weather has certainly helped for both visitors and staff members– everyone was really happy and it was lovely to have so many visitors.”

Castle Fraser, near Kemnay, was also busy with various crafts and face-painting proving popular.

Katie Neithercut, operations manager at the castle, said they had welcomed around 3,000 visitors over the weekend – with more fun planned today.

In Balmedie, the Sand Bothy cafe welcomed beach-goers to their events – which included a raffle, RNLI stall and refreshments.

Although the planned donkey visit from Jenny’s Donkeys was cancelled due to ill-health, a giant rabbit mascot delighted the youngsters for some fun on the beach instead.
