A north-east road remains closed after a car crashed into a bridge.
Police issued an alert to motorists advising them the unclassified road between the A980 and the B993 south of Torphins is shut.
“The public are advised to seek an alternative route”, the tweet reads.
A spokeswoman said the collision involved a VW Golf and the Craigour Bridge was “badly damaged”.
The driver was uninjured and the road has been closed for “council to assess the bridge”.
It was reported to police just after midnight.
An Aberdeenshire Council spokesman said: “The Nethermains Cottage Bridge near Torphins was damaged following a road traffic collision. This has resulted in the C24M road being closed.
“We will be installing temporary barriers around the damaged section of the bridge which will allow the road to reopen until we are able to carry out full repairs at a later date.
“A diversion is in place via Torphins and we would advise motorists to follow it whilst temporary repairs are being carried out.”
