Four teenagers who stamped on a man’s head during an alcohol-fuelled attack in Aberdeen city centre have been spared jail.
Albert Damean, Connor Duncan and Eythan Eite – all 18 – and 19-year-old Itthipon Sutthikorn also admitted punching and kicking the man on Bridge Street late in the evening on February 9.
They appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, with Damean flanked by security officers while in the dock as he had been held in custody.
His solicitor Mike Munro said: “On the night of the offence, he was under the influence of alcohol.
“This is his third assault conviction in 2019.”
It was suggested that Damean had initially been attacked by the victim, who had then been set upon in retaliation by the four teenagers.
HGV mechanic Duncan was represented by solicitor Gregor Kelly, who said: “Stupidly, he became involved. His judgment was poor as alcohol had been taken.
“He punched the complainer twice then kicked him to the leg and dissociated himself from it.”
Calling for leniency from Sheriff Andrew Miller, Eite’s solicitor Laura Gracie said he had gone through a “very positive change” following the recent birth of his son.
“He has been working hard and enjoying it,” she said.
Sheriff Andrew Miller gave Damean, of Montgomery Road, nine months of supervision and 150 hours of unpaid work.
Duncan, of Market Street, and Eite, of Greenburn Terrace, were ordered to carry out 120 hours and 150 hours, respectively.
Sutthikorn, whose address was given as Ferrier Gardens, was fined £400.
