Hundreds of well-wishers were treated to a royal gathering at Crathie Kirk today.

Prince William and Kate joined the Queen for Sunday service, and appeared in jovial spirits as they travelled together.

The couple, known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn while in Scotland, reportedly flew to Aberdeen with Flybe last week for their family holiday to Balmoral.

Their choice of airline came as Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced heavy criticism for using private jets for four flights in less than a fortnight despite their public commitment to the environment.

This morning, the road to Crathie Kirk – a short drive from Balmoral Castle – was lined with people hoping to catch a glimpse of the royals.

First to arrive were Charles and Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, who travelled independently from their retreat at Birkhall.

The Queen – dressed in bright pink – along with William and Kate arrived shortly after in the Royal Bentley, followed by the Earl and Countess of Forfar, and their teenage daughter.

The Princess Royal and Sir Timothy Laurence drove with Peter and Autumn Phillips to the service.

The group seemed in good spirits and waved to the onlookers gathered in the sun as they made their way into the church.
