Plans to create a gym and technical block at a private Aberdeenshire school have been approved.
Focus School – Caledonia Campus is a co-educational independent school for the Brethren community with two centres – one in Millden, Balmedie and one in Alloa, Clackmannanshire .
The school used to be based in Ellon, until 2016 when it moved to Balmedie after “outgrowing facilities.”
And now permission has been granted to create a new building on the former site of East Aberdeenshire Golf Club.
Planning documents state: “The proposed development is to construct a new building to the north of the existing school to contain a gymnasium, canteen/food tech class room, classroom/maker space and toilet/changing facilities.
“The new building would be erected in place of the temporary modular building that previously provided a primary school at the facility.”
In the decision notice, officers state: “The proposed development can be successfully accommodated within the site and has not adverse impacts on the character or amenity of the surrounding area.”
It was created under the name of Springvale Education Trust and collaborates with schools across the globe; including Canada, the USA, Barbados, Spain and New Zealand.
