An Aberdeenshire singing group is desperately seeking a new musical director to help them continue their work in the community.
Spectrum Singers is a mixed voice choir formed in 2006 with the aim of bringing music into the community.
They have 25 members, the majority from Kemnay, and provide free performances in the local community to try raise people’s spirits.
Their present musical director Alisdair Sneden is leaving at the end of March and, as a result, the group is seeking a new musical director to help them continue their work in the community.
Before then, however, they hope to showcase their talents at VSA’s Sing Sing Sing competition.
The amateur choir competition, which takes place in the Music Hall on the March 22, kicks off VSA’s year of celebrations to mark their historic 150th anniversary.
Hilda Hart, a member of the choir, said they were looking forward to returning to the Music Hall stage and said it was ” terrific” event.
“Singing together as a whole choir was an amazing experience for us all,” she said.
“We try to do as many things in the community as possible, we’ve sung in sheltered housing and in care homes.
“But there’s a few things we can’t commit to yet, until we get a new musical director.
“All our fingers are crossed that someone will come forward for us.”
