A new Lord Lieutenant has been appointed in Aberdeenshire.
The Queen has named Alexander Philip Manson as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire, to succeed Mr James Ingleby who retired on March 20.
Mr Manson, known as Sandy, trained and qualified as a chartered accountant and travelled to work in London and Zurich before returning to Scotland, where he joined Johnston Carmichael Chartered Accountants.
Initially working in Fraserburgh and Peterhead, he was promoted to partner in 1993, and by 2007 was the firm’s chief executive.
Mr Manson has also been a trustee of the Aberdeen University Development Trust since 2012 and was chairman of the trust between 2013 and 2017.
In his new role as Lord Lieutenant, he will “uphold the dignity of the crown” and be Her Majesty’s personal representative for the area.
Responsibilities include organising visits from members of the Royal Family, ensuring the Queen’s Private Office is informed on local issues and participate in civic, voluntary and social activities.
Jim Savege, chief executive of Aberdeenshire Council said he was “really pleased” at Mr Manson’s appointment, adding he was “looking forward to supporting him in his role.”
