An Aberdeen community stalwart has called for physical distancing road changes to be put on hold until it can be determined the works are not a waste of money.
Chairman of George Street Community Council, Andy MacLeod, wants Aberdeen City Council to wait for a traffic assessment on the project in his area after hearing concerns from residents.
The local authority is this week installing one-way systems there to increase the room for pedestrians, cyclists and shoppers as part of the £1.76 million Spaces For People initiative.
Mr MacLeod warned that, without the assessment, the council risks wasting money and increasing turmoil for those affected.
Council transport spokeswoman Sandra Macdonald vowed to continue to speak with businesses and residents in the area and to “review, monitor and tweak” measures to balance the needs of the community.
