New Woodside health centre to open next week

A new health centre will open in Aberdeen next week.

Woodside Fountain Health Centre, on the city’s Great Northern Road, has been completed just a year since work was officially started.

The purpose-built centre includes a GP practice with 12 consulting rooms, a minor procedures room, treatment rooms, an NHS only dental practice with three treatment rooms. The community nursing team will also work from the base after it opens on Monday.

Heather Kelman, general manager at Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “This bespoke development is the culmination of dedicated work by the Woodside Medical Group team, the support and enthusiasm of patients who have been involved throughout in shaping the new centre, and NHS Grampian.

“The centre replaces Woodside Medical Group’s premises on Western Road and the transition from the old to new buildings has been achieved without any break in service. I wish the Woodside Fountain Health Centre staff all success.”

Senior partner Dr Julia Wallace said: “We are delighted to be moving to these new premises. The building will give us considerable potential to provide an improved service to our practice population. We are looking forward to working in a modern setting with great facilities for both staff and patients.

“Having the whole primary care team on site will improve communication and offer an improved experience for our patients.”
