Police are investigating after a van was found burnt out at an Aberdeen beauty spot in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called at 6.20am when witnesses spotted flames leaping from the vehicle on the 15th hole of course one at Hazlehead Golf Club.
The fire had gone out by the time firefighters arrived and they left 10 minutes later.
However, the damage was so severe that the type of vehicle could not be identified.
It was removed around 11am yesterday, but the fire left significant damage to the golf course.
Chargehand at the club, Andrew Taylor, expressed his frustration at the incident.
He said: “The vehicle was completely burnt out and the area around it will need repairs.
“It’s very inconvenient, I have no idea how much it will cost to repair the ground.
“The vehicle was uplifted fairly quickly afterwards but it has left lots of damage.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We were made aware of a van which was on fire at Hazlehead Golf Club this morning.
“We did not attend but we have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
It is not yet known if the vehicle in question was stolen.
