The Aberdeenshire brothers behind some of the most popular beer festivals in the area have added another event to the region’s calendar.
Banchory duo, Mungo and Guy Finlayson, have launched their fourth drinks festival, Beer at the Barn at Lochter, which will take place on April 22 and 23.
The celebration of ales, IPAs, ciders and even rum is a branch of the Inverurie Beer Festival – which was held for the first time last year – and is being staged at the Lochter Activity Centre, near Oldmeldrum.
The Deeside pair rose to prominence in 2014 after holding the first Banchory Beer Festival, which was swiftly followed by its winter leg – the Beer at the Barn.
Thousands of people have now showed up to the Finlaysons’ events, which combine drinks with unique local food and live music.
Among the drinks on offer are Banchory’s own Dark Matter rum and Aberdeen’s Porter’s Gin.
Mungo said: “It’s a beautiful and ideal location to hold a mini beer festival. There are a huge range of brewers and distillers across Scotland and further afield and we are looking forward to them showcasing their product ranges.
“We will also have local bands and musicians ensuring that those in attendance are having a good time. Lochter will be providing the food which will range from a classic hog dog to gourmet lamb hog roast.”
Guy added: “We are delighted to be holding another festival, it really demonstrates the popularity of our events, and we are offering something a little different.
“There are an abundance of drinks producers around Scotland and beyond. These festivals are a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their stock ranges.”
Three sessions will be held at the festival – Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon and evening.
A shuttle bus will be available to take festival-goers from Inverurie town centre to the activity park. It will run every 30 minutes for the first two hours of each session and thereafter on demand at £6 return or £4 for a single journey.
