A police investigation has been launched following reports a resident at Home Farm Care Home on Skye has been assaulted.
Care Inspectorate officials have also been in touch with the NHS-operated facility after concerns were reported to officers.
NHS Highland bought the Portree care home in 2020 after 11 residents at the facility died during the early days of the Covid pandemic when it was operated by HC-One.
The health board has declined to comment on whether any members of staff at the Home Farm Care Home on Skye have been suspended as a result of the police investigation.
Police investigate Home Farm concerns
The care home has been inspected once since being taken over by the NHS, when it was graded “good” in all areas in July 2021.
No complaints or enforcement notices about the care home have been published by the Care Inspectorate.
Police have confirmed they have received a report about a resident being assaulted.
A spokesman said: “On September 14, police received a report regarding the assault of a 91-year-old man in the Portree area of Skye. Inquiries are at an early stage.”
A NHS Highland spokesman said: “Due to the ongoing police investigation, it would be inappropriate for us to make a comment at this time.”
A Care Inspectorate spokesman said: “We have been notified of this matter and are in close contact with the care service, the provider and partner agencies.”
Families continue search for Home Farm Covid answers
Families affected by the death of residents at Home Farm during the pandemic are continuing their search for answers at the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry.
Representatives were at the first day of hearings in Edinburgh in June with hopes lessons will be learned.
At one point during the outbreak 29 residents and 26 members of staff tested positive at the care home.
Legal action had been threatened against HC-One after a visit by the Care Inspectorate found “serious and significant concerns”.
NHS Highland intervened to improve the standards of care and ultimately received £900,000 from the Scottish Government to buy the Portree home.
