The fiancee of a man who died after falling on Ben Nevis has described him as a “wonderful daddy” and “my best friend”.
Fraser Campbell died on Friday after falling on Long Climb, the longest climb in the UK, 650ft from the top of the climb.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident by Mr Fraser’s climbing companion, who was uninjured, at around 6pm.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team (LMRT), assisted by RAF Mountain Rescue Team, attended the scene with rescue helicopter R951 to uplift the men from the hill in an operation which lasted 12 hours and was carried out in darkness.
Mr Campbell, who was 52, lived in Clackmannanshire. His fiancée Julie said: “Fraser was born in Glasgow, but lived most of his life on the north-east coast of England, before moving back to Scotland with his family in June of this year.
“Fraser was my fiancé, my best friend and a wonderful daddy to our little girl. He was kind and had a bubbly personality.
“He radiated enthusiasm and positivity in everything he did, but especially for his two great passions; his family and climbing. He was dearly loved and he will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.”
