Sir Billy Connolly delighted staff at a Scots hotel by leaving them a signed photo with a foul-mouthed tribute.

The Big Yin was staying at the Kincraig Castle Hotel in the Highlands for two days while filming a documentary.

As he was checking out he was asked to autograph a photograph of himself receiving his knighthood at Buckingham Palace.

The 75-year-old comic signed the photo and wrote: “To the staff at Kincraig Castle, F*** Off!”

Staff at the four-star hotel near Invergordon had the signed photo framed and it will now take pride of place on one of the walls there.

They posted photos of Connolly happily posing with them on social media and wrote: “Some of our staff pictured with the man himself, Sir Billy Connolly! (and a wee gift for the wall).

“It was a great honour and privilege for us to have Sir Billy Connolly, the ‘Big Yin’ staying with us over the past couple of days!”

Followers of the four-star hotel on social media praised the Glasgow stand-up.

Brenda Farquhar wrote: “True Billy style, he told me the same in Hilton Glasgow few years ago good to see he’s not changed.”

Gillian Mackay posted: “Classic Billy.”

Connolly is currently filming a documentary for the BBC where he visits various parts of Scotland.

He has spent time in the Hebrides, Wigtownshire and last week was spotted filming in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. He has also visited the Dalbeattie Men’s Shed.

Connolly was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013 but has said he is determined to keep on working and has continued touring and making television programmes.

He received his knighthood from Prince William last October after being honoured for services to entertainment and charity.

A spokesman for the hotel declined to comment.
