Police are appealing for information following suspicious activity on an A9 layby near the Cairngorms.
The incident occurred on the layby 56 on the northbound lane near Calvine between 3am and 3.45am on Wednesday last week.
Police are now tracing the driver of a white Scania HGV with Irish number plates, along with the occupants of a small car which may have had blue lights.
A statement said: “We have been informed that some kind of altercation has taken place, however we have yet to trace those involved and confirm what has taken place.
“Although it is unlikely anyone has directly witnessed what has happened, we would like to ask anyone who was driving in this area around this time who may have a dashcam or similar recording device to contact us.”
