The A83 Tarbet to Campbeltown road will remain closed at the Rest and Be Thankful today following closure at the weekend due to heavy rain.
The local diversion route, via the Old Military Road, is again in use after an inspection this morning showed a breached water channel was continuing to cause problems.
Road maintenance firm Bear Scotland wrote on Twitter: “The volume of water & silt overflowing from the channel prompted concerns that material could be brought down onto the OMR [Old Military Road], & teams are continuing to assess the route.”
Western Ferries said on social media they would be offering additional sailings to help drivers affected by the closure.
Eddie Ross, Bear Scotland’s north west representative, said last night: “We closed the A83 on Sunday evening as a safety precaution due to forecast heavy rain and we’ve been paying close attention to the weather conditions in the area.
“As ever we thank the local community and road users for their continued patience while we do everything we can to address the ongoing situation at the Rest.”
Mitigation works are continuing in the area in a bid to provide further landslip resilience for the route.
