From a music festival to toilets for an internationally-recognised memorial, communities across Lochaber are in the money.
A round dozen projects have received over £18,500 Lochaber Ward Discretionary funding approved by local Members of The Highland Council.
Leader of the Lochaber Area, Councillor Thomas MacLennan said: “These recent awards from the local Ward discretionary fund are all about local funds for local projects that make a difference to local people. Lochaber members all gave their support to the applications which I am delighted to see go ahead.”
The Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry charity have received a £2966 contribution towards a feasibility study for toilet facilities at the Commando Memorial area at Spean Bridge.
Towards the costs of a feasibility study to expand the West Highland Museum, £2,500 has been awarded.
Caol Regeneration Company Ltd has received a £5,000 contribution to the study costs required to get the Thomas Telford Corpach marina project to a shovel ready stage.
For contributions to the enhancement of their community hall the Isle of Eigg Community Association has received £2181. This award will assist with the replacement of single glazed windows to double glazed.
The 42nd Annual Lochaber Music Festival has received a contribution of £400 towards its 2016 event in March.
Nether Lochaber senior citizens received a £450 contribution to their Christmas lunch.
Plantation Community Association also received a £400 contribution to their winter activities for young and old.
Action for Seniors Kinlochleven group will be celebrating 20 years of operating with a party on 16 January 2016. The group were awarded £808 funds towards their celebration.
Mallaig and District Swimming Pool have also been awarded £872 for replacement lighting.
Lady Lovat school has received a £250 contribution towards transport costs for school activities.
Lochaber Archaeological Society has been awarded £375 for the replacement of a commemorative plaque marking a Spitfire crash and death of Flying Officer John McDonell in 1943.
Voluntary Action Lochaber has been awarded £2,299 towards consultation costs regarding the delivery of a micro community plan.
