Businessman Calum MacLachlainn is delighted that the extra sailings will allow islanders to commute to Oban.
Mr MacLachlainn, from Mull, owns several businesses including fishing boats, an estate agents, pubs and restaurants in Mull, Oban and the central belt.
He recently had to move from Tobermory on Mull to Oban because it was becoming too logistically difficult to operate all of his various interests.
Mr MacLachlainn said: “The extra sailings make my businesses in Mull and Oban a lot more viable. Today I had a meeting with my office manager, he came over on the early ferry and was able meet with me first thing and get his business done in Oban.
“I think it will increase the economic viability of all businesses on Mull and in Oban.
“It will allow youngsters from Mull to work in Oban, they won’t have to leave the island for a job. That is a big thing for me because Mull needs to keep its young people.”
