Officers appealed for witnesses after the grim find at the city’s Island Bank Road. A spokesman for the force confirmed that the body of a female had been found, but declined to say whether it had been in a house or in the street. “The death is being treated as unexplained,” he added. “Inquiries are ongoing and are at an early stage to establish the full set of circumstances surrounding the death.” Island Bank Road overlooks the River Ness, which runs through the Highland capital. Officers were conducting door-to-door inquiries last night as they tried to piece-together the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. They have urged anyone with information to contact them.
