It has emerged that a young woman found dead near Inverness city centre after going missing following a night out had drowned.
A police dog handler found her body at 5.20pm on August 17, after Charlotte Hornby was reported missing by her worried family.
The 24-year-old’s death certificate, registered on Monday, August 25, lists the cause, and place, of death as drowning in a waterway within Ness Islands, Inverness.
Forensic teams, and police divers, had worked at the scene for almost two days, with a section of Island Bank Road, near the junction of Drummond Crescent, cordoned off.
Friends and colleagues soon turned the area into a shrine as they paid tribute to Miss Hornby, after details were released about her tragic death.
