Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael visited the nerve centre for the annual poppy appeal in the Highlands at the weekend.
He spoke to staff at Poppyscotland’s office at Strothers Lane in Inverness, which also incorporates a welfare centre for members of the armed forces.
Current, and former servicemen and women, as well as their families, can get advice, information and support on a range of topics at the centre, which opened 16 months ago.
About 118,000 ex-servicemen and women live in the north of Scotland.
Mr Carmichael said: “I really valued the chance to visit Poppyscotland in Inverness and see first-hand the excellent support they are providing.”
Poppyscotland’s welfare services co-ordinator for the north, Lorna McConnell, added: “The centre has become firmly established as a source of information, advice and support, and is making a big difference to the lives of members of the local armed forces community.”
