Heather MacKay, of 30A Greig Street, Inverness, admitted culpably and recklessly throwing a glass tumbler and striking Kevin Mawldsley in the face to his injury at a house in Gilbert Court, on May 31 this year.

The court heard the couple of had been drinking from 7pm until 3.30am when they had an argument.

Fiscal depute Michelle Molley said: “She went to throw the drink in her glass over him but the glass came out of her hand and struck him on the chin.

“He required hospital treatment for the cuts.”

Defence lawyer Chris Munro said: “Everyone had been drinking heavily at the party until 3.30am and she wanted to leave because she was tired.

“As they left, my client made a derogatory remark towards her boyfriend who went back inside. She followed and they sat at a table very close to each other. They argued again and when she tried to throw the drink over him, the glass struck him on the chin.”
