A new priest has been appointed to lead the Scottish Episopal Church in two Easter Ross towns.

The Rev Canon Ian Pallett has been welcomed into a new appointment at St Ninian’s, Invergordon and St Mary’s, Alness.

He also continues in his role as rector of St James’ in Dingwall and St Anne’s in Strathpeffer, posts he has held since 2003.

He was welcomed into his new role at a recent service hosted by the Rt Rev Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness.

Canon Pallett said: “I am very much looking forward to being a part of the life of both the churches and the communities in Alness and Invergordon.

“St. Ninian’s has a wonderful history of service to the people of North Ross-shire and by being a part of that I hope to encourage new ways of connecting church and community in our local towns and villages.”

During the special service of welcome, Bishop Strange announced the formation of the Northern Chapter of Episcopal Churches, which formally unites the clergy covering the northern Highlands in a new combined ministry.

Mr Strange said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to this new phase in his ministry.

“The strong gifts he has already shown in leading the Episcopal churches in Dingwall and Strathpeffer will help us to continue building communities of faith which are open to all throughout Ross-shire.

“The new Northern Chapter will enable Ian to work with his colleagues to build up fresh patterns of ministry and service, whilst supporting one another in their own church congregations.”
