Up-and-coming Highland band FRAS will be among the star attractions in a packed line-up of music and arts events in Cromarty this summer.
The hotly-tipped group – who are promoting their new album Dìle – describe their sound as a “bracing shower of melodies, a downpour of thundering rhythm with the occasional promise of sunshine”.
Their show at the Old Brewery on Saturday July 16 will represent a homecoming for band member Angus Binnie, who plays pipes and whistles, and is from the Black Isle village.
They will be supported by traditional duo Ashcroft, comprised of teenage brothers Euan and Lewis McLaughlin from Edinburgh.
The programme of events organized by the Cromarty Arts Trust kicks off this Sunday with a piano recital by Alexander Chapman Campbell at the Stables, Cromarty.
Later in the month there will be a life drawing workshop weekend at the Stables on July 23 and 24, led by artist Jonathan Shearer, as well as music tuition at the Outside Track Summer School at the Old Brewery, from July 24 to 29.
The Feis Ross Ceilidh Trail will arrive at the Stables on August 5, while there will be the Paintbox Summer School at the Old Brewery from August 8 to 11, and a Celtic illumination workshop with artist Thomas Keyes at the Stables on August 27 and 28.
