A top Scottish folk band will get the party started early in Keith over the Easter weekend in a warm up for the Traditional Music and Song Association (TMSA) Festival.

North Sea Gas has been performing for over 30 years, with 16 recorded albums and a worldwide reputation to their name.

Fiddler Grant Simpson is originally from Lossiemouth and has been playing with the band since 2006.

Mr Simpson, along with fellow band members, Ronnie MacDonald and Dave Gilfillan, have been in Keith numerous times including performing at the Keith Festival weekend in 2009.

TMSA Festival Chairman, Kathleen Anderson, said the band offer a great chance to experience guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bouzouki, whistles, bodhrans, banjo and good humour up close.

She said: “It is great that such a talented and popular group as North Sea Gas is coming back to Keith entertain us.

“This concert helps us raised funds to run the festival and gives people a taste of the kind of entertainment they can expect at our weekend in June.

“More importantly though it gives people the chance to enjoy Scottish traditional music outwith the festival weekend.

“We hope that we can get a good crowd along to the concert so that there’s a great atmosphere at what will be a fantastic concert.”

North Sea Gas will be performing in concert at The Royal Hotel, Keith on Saturday, April 4.

Tickets cost £8 and can be purchased from Mither Tongue, Mid Street, Keith, by e-mailing keithfestival@gmail.com or through Sandy McCombie on 01542 882638.

They will perform again at the festival, which will take over various venues in Keith in June.
