Callum McGregor will captain Scotland’s EURO 2020 qualifying opener against Kazakhstan, however left back Kieran Tierney will miss out through injury.
Although Tierney will sit out the Scots’ opening Group I match on Thursday, the Celtic player could return for Sunday’s trip to San Marino.
The absence of Tierney is a further blow to Alex McLeish’s left back options, with skipper Andy Robertson already ruled out against the Kazakhs due to a dental problem.
The absence of Tierney and Robertson could pave the way for Aberdeen’s Graeme Shinnie to earn his first competitive start.
McGregor, who has nine national caps, will skipper the Scots for the first time.
