SPFL transfer latest: Celtic could have a new striker by tonight, duo join Rangers on trial

We’ve had a rather busy day so far today in the world of Scottish transfers – Rangers have taken two players on trial, while Kilmarnock, Hibs and St Mirren have all completed signings and Celtic should learn tonight whether or not one of their top signing targets wants to move to Parkhead.

Meanwhile down south there are plenty of rumours flying about, Liverpool are on the verge of completing their sixth signing and number seven may not be far behind him.

  • Former Livingston, Middlesbrough and Bradford City winger Andy Halliday has joined Rangers on trial.
    The 23-year-old previously spent three years as a youth at Rangers, before joining Livingston. (Daily Record)
  • Rangers are looking to add a third defender of the summer with a move for former Manchester City youth Reece Wabara, who has arrived in Glasgow for talks and to train with the Gers first team.
    The 23-year-old right back captained City’s development team but spent last season at Doncaster Rovers. (Herald)
  • Celtic target Jelle Vossen will need to decide today whether or not he wants to join the Parkhead club.
    The Genk forward has been told by his club that he must decide by the end of the day whether he wants to sign a new contract at the club or join the Scottish champions. (Daily Record)
  • Australian midfielder Nick Epifano has travelled to Scotland to complete a trial spell with Dundee United.

  • Ian Cathro, the 28-year-old Scottish coach who was interviewed for the Rangers manager’s position will join English Premier League side Newcastle United as assistant manager within the next 48 hours. (BBC)
  • Dunfermline look set to sign former Queen of the South duo Michel Paton and Stephen McKenna, who have both been released by the Dumfries side.
  • Former Livingston midfielder Keaghan Jacobs could be set for a move to South Africa after joining Bidwest Vits on trial.

  • Hibs have signed former Hull City goalkeeper Mark Oxley on a permanent deal after he impressed on loan at Easter Road last season.
  • Hamilton Accies have signed 28-year-old former Dumbarton midfielder Chris Turner.
  • Former Motherwell midfielder Stuart Carswell has joined St Mirren after leaving the Fir Park side.
  • Motherwell have signed former York City striker Wes Fletcher.
  • Amido Balde has been released by Celtic and looks set to join FC Metz in France later today.

  • Bastian Schweinsteiger could be tempted to join Manchester United by the promise of first-team football. (Times).
  • Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi could be Liverpool’s seventh signing of the summer. The Reds have had a £10.6m bid rejected for the 25-year-old but look set to bid again. (Daily Star)
  • Nathaniel Clyne, 24, will today complete a £12.5m move from Southampton to Liverpool. (Liverpool Echo)
  • Manchester City will compete with rivals Manchester United to buy Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, 29. (Mirror)
  • Manchester United are determined to sign the defender and may make a second offer after Real Madrid rejected their first bid of £28.3m. (Manchester Evening News)
  • Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal looks likely to sign for Arsenal this summer. (Daily Telegraph)
