Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes hopes his side’s three-game winning run can help rebuild the trust between the players and the support.
The Dons have responded to their 4-0 home defeat to Celtic last month by winning three league matches in a row for the first time this season and head into the international break in third place in the Premiership.
Saturday’s 3-1 win at Ross County epitomised the growing confidence in the Dons ranks following an injury-affected start to the season and the Dons boss is thrilled to see both the fans and players growing in confidence.
He said: “Only the Old Firm can do what we did and fill the stand at Ross County. The fans were in full voice and they certainly enjoyed the game. We enjoyed the support too and that is the way it should be.
“We’ve got to build some bridges with some and have that connection between the team and the support. When the support is how it was on Saturday and the players respond it is great and hopefully we can have many more days like that.
“We scored three but we could have had four, five or six, some of the opportunities we had and you can see the confidence coming back into the team.
“We’ve done our bit after the defeat to Celtic and it’s pleasing to get nine points. The only negative was not getting a third clean sheet in a row but that is down to the decision in the game. The intent is there from the team and there is enough quality but having the confidence do deal with the situation we were in was encouraging.”
Celtic and Rangers remain out in front at the top of the Premiership but McInnes has challenged his side to build momentum when they return from the international break.
Aberdeen face St Johnstone and St Mirren when they return to action after the international break this month before welcoming Rangers to Pittodrie on December 4 and McInnes wants to see his side continue to grow in stature and confidence.
He said: “Our trademark is going on winning runs and unbeaten runs and that’s what we are trying to do again.
“We just have to concentrate on ourselves and our points tally is up there with previous seasons.”
