New Elgin City manager Jim Weir got off to an excellent start as his side drew 1-1 at home to League 2 leaders Arbroath at Borough Briggs last night.
Elgin are still bottom of the table but Weir was happy with his side’s performance and said: “I am delighted to have picked up a point after going a goal down against the leaders, who are a free-scoring and excellent side.
“I got a real reaction out of the players, not just with getting the equaliser in the second half.
“We did well in the first half and probably created as many chances as them and didn’t deserve to be behind at half time.
“I always ask substitutes to give me food for thought and Craig Gunn did by scoring. But it was an excellent all-round performance, so it is hard to single anybody out.
“I am going to have to try to use contacts to add to the squad because we are a little bit thin and I will be doing that over the coming weeks.
“We’ve got some players who can score goals and create chances, but maybe there are some areas in there where we just need more strength in depth.”
