Buckie Thistle manager Graeme Stewart has agreed a new four-year contract which will keep him at Victoria Park until 2021.

Stewart along with his assistant Lewis MacKinnon, first-team coaches and former players Stephen Bruce and Andy Low, as well as goalkeeping coach Darren Strong, have all pledged their immediate futures to the newly-crowned Highland League champions.

Stewart said: “This gives us continuity but it has been talked about for a few months now as we have already signed most of our players, about 14 of them, on three-year or four-year contracts.

“When we were holding talks with these guys they were obviously asking what I was going to be doing and this decision lets them know that I’m also going to be here for a long as they will be. I’m delighted that my other backroom staff have followed suit and also signed new four-year deals. The last two-and-a-half years have been the best of my football career.

“I actually prefer managing to playing and my coaching staff couldn’t be happier.

“My assistant Lewis MacKinnon, who is still only 32, has also signed a new two-year playing contract as well. This season has probably been his best at the club.”

Stewart, 35, added: “We will be back in training either on Tuesday, June 20, or perhaps the previous Saturday. The good thing is that we don’t need to organise too many pre-season friendly matches this time around as we will be involved in both the League Cup and the Irn-Bru Cup so we will be right back into it.

“In the League Cup we will possibly be up against an SPFL team and the boys are quite excited about the prospect of that.”
