Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran believes his players are on the brink of turning a corner, despite going seven matches without a win.
A late header from Gary Warren salvaged a point for Inverness against Kilmarnock in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
Foran’s men, who sit only a point above bottom side Partick Thistle, are back on the road this week with a Christmas Eve visit to Ibrox to take on second-place Rangers.
Not the easiest of venues for Caley Thistle to end their winless sequence but Foran remains upbeat.
He said: “The main thing is to remain positive. We are a positive team and a positive club.
“We keep getting the message across that we want the players to keep getting on the ball and trying to create chances as well as focusing on being solid at the back.
“We want them to enjoy their football but we can only do that when we are sitting in the top half of the table.
“One or two wins will get us there. We are still in a good place but we know we have to win more games.”
Inverness boast the unenviable record of having the worst defensive record in Scotland’s top flight, having conceded 34 goals this term. But Foran believes Caley Jags are becoming more resolute at the back.
He added: “We could have been more creative against Kilmarnock as we didn’t pose as much of a goal threat or have that level of composure we were looking for. But we are around the top of the charts when it comes to scoring goals.
“I am not worried about us going forward, I was worried about us defensively. I feel we have looked a lot more solid over the last couple of games.
“Brad McKay sat in front of the back four on Saturday and was doing a good job until he had to come off injured.
“We are concentrating on not conceding goals. The goal we conceded at Kilmarnock came when Souleymane Coulibaly controlled the ball with his arm and then produced a fantastic finish.
“It took something special to score as was the case the previous week when Hamilton scored from a free kick.”
