Dramatic video footage of the burning aftermath of a lightning strike in Rotherham near Sheffield has emerged online.

The lighting strike hit the roof of the property in Rotherham, with emergency services called to the scene just before 6pm on Saturday 19 July.

The roof caved in as a result of the heat, but thankfully no one was at home at the time of incident.

It was a stormy weekend across the UK and thousands of photos emerged online of lightning lighting up the skies. Keep checking the Press and Journal website today for a selection of images sent in by readers.
