Arctic Monkeys announce Royal Albert Hall gig for War Child UK

Arctic Monkeys have announced they will perform a one-off show at the Royal Albert Hall in London next month in aid of War Child UK.

The concert, announced days after the rock band released their sixth album Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino, will take place on June 7.

Rob Williams, CEO of War Child UK, said: “We are delighted that the Arctic Monkeys will be dedicating their time and efforts to helping children affected by war by performing a show for War Child, and it is a huge honour that they have chosen to support us.

“The money raised from this show will allow us to continue our life-changing programmes and reach even more children who have had their lives torn apart by conflict.

“With 250 million children in the world today affected by war, the need is as great as ever to stand up for their rights.”

Fans hoping to obtain tickets can pay £2 to enter a ballot, which is open until 8pm on Sunday May 20, and those who have been successful will be notified on Monday May 21 and will be given 24 hours to purchase their tickets.

All proceeds go to War Child UK, which works in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East and Latin America to provide protection and education and stand up for the rights of children caught in conflict.

According to the Official Charts update on Monday, Arctic Monkeys are outselling the rest of the top 20 in the album charts combined with their latest effort.
