Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles revealed she has “fully recovered” from coronavirus.

The Grammy-winning star, 40, told of her diagnosis for the first time in a video shared on her Instagram Story.

“Hey friends,” she began the clip, which showed Bareilles walking in a park. “Just wanted to check in. I’m really quiet right now and will probably continue to be quiet. Just sort of taking all of this in and having a lot of feelings as I do.

Bareilles, whose hits include Love Song and Brave, said she is “thinking about all of the people who are walking through this really tricky time and sending a lot of love”.

She added she feels “really grateful for every easy breath and every day that I get to be walking around”.

On Wednesday, musician Adam Schlesinger, best known for his work with rock band Fountains Of Wayne, died at the age of 52 after contracting coronavirus.

New Orleans jazz pioneer Ellis Marsalis Jr, 85, also died on Wednesday, with his son saying the cause of death was complications from Covid-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.

On Thursday it was announced the number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the world had passed the one million threshold, though the real total is believed to be much higher.

The pandemic has caused devastation across the entertainment industry, with live music events cancelled and film and TV production grinding to a halt.

Top Gun: Maverick is the latest Hollywood movie to be delayed, with star Tom Cruise announcing the film’s release had been pushed from June to December.
