Catastrophe star Rob Delaney and his wife Leah are to become parents again.

The actor, who revealed in February that their son had died, confirmed the news on Twitter.

He wrote: “Just had 2 typically wonderful @NHSEnglandLDN midwives visit my pregnant wife & I for a home birth assessment. Love to all marching for the NHS today. See my sad love letter to the NHS below.”

Along with his tweet he shared a video he has made for Democratic Socialists for Medicare for All in which he urges Americans to get involved in the campaign for better healthcare.

The 41-year-old confirmed the baby news in a longer version of the video posted on his official Facebook page.

The UK's National Health Service spared Rob Delaney's family from financial stress while they endured the grief of losing their son. Now, a week before the NHS’s 70th anniversary, he encourages fellow Americans to get involved in the fight for Medicare for All:

He said: “We had a couple of kids in the US and we had one child here in the UK and we’re about to have another and now I know unfortunately that things can go very wrong and so I don’t have the attitude like it won’t happen to me because it did happen to us.

“Our son Henry passed away in January of this year from cancer and he was a beautiful little boy from the moment he was born until the moment he died.

“And he benefited so much from the healthcare system here and so did we as his parents because while we endured stress that was truly unbelievable.

“We didn’t endure the financial stress of wondering are we going to be able to pay for this, are we going to have to move during his treatment because we have to move into a smaller house or move in with relatives … so that financial stress we didn’t have to endure here and what a gift…”

Earlier this month, he paid tribute to Henry, who died after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Delaney posted a photograph of him kissing his son as he held him in his arms, to mark his first Father’s Day since the toddler’s death.

He tweeted: “This is the first Father’s Day since my beautiful Henry died. Love today to all dads & moms who’ve lost a child.”

In a lengthy Facebook post in February, he wrote: “I have very sad news. My two and a half year old son Henry has passed away.

“Henry had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016, shortly after his first birthday, following persistent vomiting and weight loss.

“He had surgery to remove the tumour and further treatment through the early part of 2017. Then the cancer returned last autumn and he died in January.

“My wife and Henry’s older brothers and I are devastated of course. Henry was a joy.

“He was smart, funny, and mischievous and we had so many wonderful adventures together, particularly after he’d moved home following 15 months living in hospitals.”

Delaney said the tumour and surgery had left the little boy with physical disabilities but he learned sign language and found a way of moving around on his bottom.

He wrote: “His drive to live and to love and to connect was profound. I am astonished by the love-in-action displayed by Henry’s mom and his brothers.

“They are why I will endeavour to not go mad with grief. I don’t want to miss out on their beautiful lives. I’m greedy for more experiences with them.”

Following his latest news, fans congratulated the couple on their latest news on Twitter.
