Scottish breeders were out in force at the inaugural Borderway Beauties sale of Suffolk females in Carlisle.

A top price of 6,500gn was achieved twice for gimmers from Iain and Judith Barbour’s Solwaybank flock at Annan, Dumfriesshire.

This included a Collessie Cartier daughter selling to Stewart Craft of Little Balquhomrie, Leslie, Fife.

In all, the Barbours sold six gimmers to average £3,062.50.

Next best at 4,800gn was a gimmer by the 6,000gn Strathbogie A Kind of Magic daughter Mark Priestley’s Limestock flock in Northern Ireland. She sold to Pat and Rory Machray’s Middlemuir flock at Bilboa, Inverurie.

A Limestock ewe lamb, by Lakeview No Limits, also sold for 1,550gn to Messrs Johnson, Shetland.

The Limestock flock averaged £5,040 for one gimmer and £1,330.88 for four ewe lambs.

Meanwhile, George and Melvin Stuart, of Milltown of Birness, Ellon, sold five gimmers from their Birness flock to average £1,014.30.

Their top-priced entry was a gimmer by Limestone Legend, which is jointly owned with Collessie. She sold for 1,350gn to the Miskelly family at Corrybrae, Kildrummy, Alford.
