A top price of 10,500gn was made in the Limousin sale at Stirling.
The second-prize winning Maraiscote Idol heads north to Hugh Mackay, Wester Tomloan, Ardclach, Nairn. This one, from Ian Nimmo’s Maraiscote herd at Wishaw, is a Goldies Comet son out of Maraiscote Bop.
Both the average and clearance rate were down on the year with only 62 of the 105 bulls forward selling (64%) to an average of £4,625. At the same sale last year, 70 bulls sold to an average of £5,247 with an 80% clearance rate.
Next at 9,000gn was the overall and senior champion from Andrew Burnett at Upper Spittalton, Blair Drummond.
Spittalton Ionesco is an AI son of Bolide, which has sired sons to 7,800gn, and out of Spittalton Unison, and he sold to J. and P. Carr Farms Ltd at Piddinghoe, East Sussex.
Meanwhile, north-east breeder Mike Massie, of Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt, Ellon, made 8,000gn with his second-prize winning bull Elrick Inca. This one, which is by Craigatoke Dundee and out of Elrick Flash, sold to R. W. Cameron, Wester Bonhard, Scone.
Another at 8,000gn was Maraiscote Iggypop from Ian Nimmo’s Maraiscote herd at Wishaw.
This Goldies comet son, out of Maraiscote Allie, heads to James and John Thomson at Hilton of Beath, Kelty, Fife.
The reserve overall and reserve senior champion from Mike Massie made 7,500gn. Elrick Icon is a Craigatoke Dundee son out of Elrick Foxglove. The buyer was J. Lyon, Little Kilchatton, Bute.
Dougie McBeath and Sarah-Jane Jessop, Lower Greenyards, Bannockburn, received 6,800gn for their reserve junior champion Springsett Islander. He is by the 11,000gn Hafodlas Garnedd and out of Blairpark Utopia. The buyer was Mr Cadzow.
In the females sale, both the champion and reserve went unsold.
