A new company set up in Inverness to provide maintenance for catering equipment in restaurants and pubs is preparing to expand after finding demand for its services was much higher than expected.

Edge Catering Engineers was launched at the end of last year by Cru Holdings, which owns a number of bars in the Highland Capital, including Scotch & Rye and Bar One, as well as tourism business Inverness Travel.

The firm, run by Kieran Fitpatrick, surpassed its target of securing 10 customers in the first month, by signing up 37 and is planning to recruit a second engineer, followed by a third within six months.

Cru Holdings managing director, Scott Murray, said: “It’s great to have Edge Catering Services as part of the Cru Holdings family and to diversify our offering. The new company is off to a fantastic start and being able to take on additional staff so early on is great for us.

“Our experience allows us to identify exactly what bars and restaurants need so we’re really excited for the future of Edge.

Mr Murray added that 2017 had been successful for Cru Holdings. Inverness Travel had tripled its turnover, he said, while business had increased at all its bars.

He continued: “We’ve worked hard to create environments that locals and visitors love so it’s great to see the venues continuing to increase in popularity.”
