Time is fast running out for energy companies to enter the first ever North Sea industry Gold Awards.
The deadline is tomorrow, providing a last chance for firms to take part in an event which could deliver significant rewards for their business, staff and customers.
The Press and Journal, in association with our sister website Energy Voice and title partner Aberdeen Asset Management (AAM), has launched the awards to mark a significant milestone for the oil and gas industry – the 50th year of the north-east’s involvement in the development of the North Sea.
Fifth Ring, the specialist marketing communications agency for the energy industry, has come on board as a category sponsor. Wood Group PSN is supporting the emerging leader award.
AAM chief executive Martin Gilbert urged firms not to miss out on the chance to get involved.
He said: “I urge businesses to get their entries finalised for the Gold Awards before the deadline this Friday.
“North-east businesses of all sizes have had a significant influence on the global oil and gas industry in the past 50 years and I invite them to share their success through these awards.
“I am in no doubt that there are many businesses who will also help to shape and inspire the industry in the next 50 years too, and these awards also give an opportunity to showcase those who will innovate and affect the future.
“Our area has been an international incubator for businesses which have innovated in energy since 1965 and which have gone onto success on an international stage.
“I hope they will all submit their entries and play a role in this major celebration of the industry.”
There are six categories, open to companies or individuals, including most influential business of the past 50 years, most influential business of the next 50 years, emerging leader, global impact, innovation of the past 50 years and innovation for the future.
In addition, the event will reveal the winner of the inaugural hall of fame accolade.
Press and Journal editor-in-chief Damian Bates said: “In this, the industry’s 50th year in the North Sea, it’s important that the Press and Journal steps back and – for the first time – celebrates the amazing achievements the people involved in this dynamic industry have produced in our own backyard.
“We have launched the Gold Awards to celebrate all the hard work and the massive success people and enterprises have achieved. It’s fantastic to be recognised, so I encourage all to enter so that people know what your business has achieved.”
Entering is easy and free, and category hopefuls can apply by visiting the dedicated Gold Awards website.
Winners will be unveiled at a ceremony at the Marcliffe Hotel in Aberdeen on Friday, June 5.
The night of celebration also aims to recognise the people who have supported the industry through its ups and downs, so husbands, wives and partners are invited to be part of it.
As the hopes of the industry’s longevity rest firmly on the next generation’s very capable shoulders, companies are strongly encouraged to include at least two young members of the team who represent that future.
A table of 10 costs £1,500 + VAT. The website, www.pandjgoldawards.com, is live for bookings. Alternatively, Rachael Duff can arrange for tables to be ordered on 01382 575965, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
