Magpie Murders can only be described as incredibly clever – but what else would you expect from Anthony Horowitz?
Successful as both an author and a screenwriter, he is best known for the Alex Rider teen spy novels and the detective TV series Midsomer Murders, with more recent projects including the BBC One crime drama New Blood.
A murder mystery novel, Magpie Murders is multifaceted and Horowitz pulls off a complicated idea with finesse. It follows editor Susan Ryeland as her life changes after she reads the manuscript of a famous crime writer’s latest book.
Although at first glance it appears to be a classic whodunit novel, Horowitz’s latest offering is guaranteed to be unlike anything you’ve ever read before and will have you mulling it over in between sittings.
