New clinic brings innovative body contouring treatment to Aberdeen

A strong core is vitally important for long-term health – but let’s be honest, it can also be difficult to build muscle in this area. Now you can head to a brand new clinic in Aberdeen for the EmSculpt NEO treatment that delivers the same effect as doing 20,000 crunches, in just 30 minutes.

It may sound too good to be true but, like all other treatments on offer at the newly opened Profile Aesthetic in Aberdeen, EmSculpt NEO is clinically proven. It not only reduces fat by up to 30% and builds muscle by 25%, it also comes with a whole host of health benefits.

Fiona Leitch, who is owner and managing director of Profile Aesthetic, and her business partner, medical director Paul Drake, explain: “The more recent studies of EmSculpt NEO in America and Canada have proven the overall holistic health benefits of it.

“So yes, it tightens the muscles and gives a good definition and core, but that also increases your metabolism, helps with your balance, bone density and overall health.

“It’s quite ground-breaking that one device can have all those holistic, long-lasting benefits.”

So what can you expect from the EmSculpt NEO treatment?

Fiona says: “It’s the most clinically researched piece of technology that there is on the market. It’s radio frequency combined with high intensity focused electromagnetic therapy, HIFEM.

“What it does is the radio frequency heats up the tissues which melts the fat, so you get 30% reduction in fat storage. It also tightens the skin. And then the electromagnetic therapy gives whatever area is treated the equivalent of 20,000 crunches in 30 minutes.”

These are whole muscle contractions, but the machine also taps out the lactic acid afterwards, so you’re not sore the next day.

What areas can you target with EmSculpt NEO?

The innovative technology can be used to treat the abdomen, bingo wings, biceps, thighs, bottom and calves. The manufacturer has also just launched muffin top handles, to target the oblique areas.

Does EmSculpt NEO treatment hurt?

Fiona warns that the first EmSculpt NEO treatment is intense. The good news is, it gets easier.

A course involves four treatments, a week apart. Fiona says that by the end, patients sit and chat with her throughout the 30-minute procedure!

How much does EmSculpt NEO cost and how many treatments will you need?

A minimum course of EmSculpt NEO involves four treatments, for £2,000.

You can then go back monthly, weekly or have another course at a later date. Fiona advises that frequency of treatment in future really comes down to budget and preference.

What else is on offer at Profile Aesthetic in Aberdeen?

EmSculpt NEO is not the only innovative treatment on offer at Profile Aesthetic, which offers a wide range of plastic surgery and non-invasive treatments. Its tagline is skin, laser and plastic surgery, which is a good description of what you’ll find on offer.

In terms of skincare, there’s everything from acne treatment, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles and fillers. Laser treatments include tattoo and hair removal, treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions, right up to ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing. It can also be used to treat fungal nail infections.

And in the surgery department, the team of expert surgeons offer technology-assisted procedures like breast augmentation, tummy tucks, liposuction and more. Medical director Paul says: “Nothing that we do in Profile is just an operation. Everything is augmented by some sort of technology that gets you a better or quicker result, and faster recovery. So, for instance, if we do eyelid surgery, we don’t just do the operation. We also combine it with a laser treatment to try reducing fine lines and wrinkles around and under the eye.”

This kind of holistic approach, with different types of treatments working together, helps set Profile Aesthetic apart.

Paul explains: “You don’t really get to the point of having a procedure here without Fiona starting you off with nutrition and skincare – because why have a rejuvenating facial surgery if you don’t have skincare or the right nutrition. There’s no point.”

Fiona adds that it’s all about “heathy living”, with health viewed in combination with aesthetics to create treatment plans tailored to patients’ needs and budgets.

The power of clinically proven treatments and medical expertise

Profile Aesthetic only offers the best treatments and care. Fiona says: “Our philosophy is very much about patient before profit. We want to differentiate our business from others by having a very clear ethical and medical strategy that ensures that the needs of our patients and clients are put first.

“Our starting point is to align the very best service possible, with the medical challenge that our customers are seeking to address, using the most modern techniques and equipment in the hands of the best team of professional staff.

“It is important for us to set everyone at ease. For many, this may be the first occasion that they have invested in their own personal health and wellbeing. We need to be trusted; they need to be confident. We build relationships to make sure that everyone leaves us with a very positive outcome. That, in essence, is what Profile Aesthetic is all about.”

After all, there’s a risk involved with cosmetic procedures. Seeking treatment from qualified practitioners is therefore key. Paul explains: “Treatments have come a long way, but the complications are still the same. And you still must be able to manage those, with the knowledge and skill of a medical practitioner.

“Fortunately, complications are very unusual the more trained and experienced you are, but they can happen. It’s being able to notice that there’s been a complication and treating it immediately, and in our opinion, you just can’t do that in a non-clinical setting.”

That’s why all staff at Profile Aesthetic are medically trained. Paul is a specialist trained UK plastic surgeon with years of experience, including being involved in pioneering laser-assisted liposuction in Scotland. He says: “My experience spans from the head to the toe, I’ve done all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery. One of my particular interests is body contouring procedures.”

Meanwhile, Fiona is a nurse of 40 years and has been an aesthetic nurse practitioner for 15 years.

Paul and Fiona have worked together in private practice for 12 years, they had an instant professional rapport and trust with each other, right from the start. Taking the step to open Profile Aesthetic together was no mean feat, but it was something they were both passionate about. Going it alone gave them the freedom to create the best possible destination for non-invasive and surgical cosmetic treatments in Aberdeen.

As part of that, they didn’t want to involve shareholders. Paul explains: “We don’t want people influencing how we deliver our care on the basis of finance or profits. Patients have to come first. It’s got to be safe, it’s got to be effective, there’s no cutting corners or doing it on the cheap. Everything we do is with integrity, morality, honesty and trust.”

Finding the right premises was also incredibly important and it took a long time to find the right spot – and another six months to completely renovate it.

What was previously an office, has now been transformed into a purpose-built clinic, complete with a state-of-the-art operating room, recovery suite and consultation rooms. Everything is modern, clean, and fresh, and while it feels like a medical space, there are touches of personality and artwork throughout, giving a warm and welcoming vibe.

It’s all fully in line with Healthcare Improvement Scotland regulations, and Paul and Fiona designed the space to their exact specifications, developed after their years of experience in the industry.

Fiona adds: “What’s really important is that we’re doing things that are appropriate, safe and effective. Everything, from pre-surgery to the follow-up, is all done by us. None of it is outsourced.”
