Titan Sky Bar: Is the north-east now home to the UK’s largest outdoor dining dome bar?

Inside the Titan Sky Bar,

An Aberdeenshire hotel has unveiled a new dome bar experience, offering locals and visitors the chance to sit inside what is said to be the UK’s largest outdoor dining dome.

The Titan Sky Bar will open at Meldrum House Country Hotel in Oldmeldrum this Friday (November 26) and can host up to 40 guests at any one time.

The dome bar offers a unique experience for guests looking to enjoy the outdoors while dining and drinking and is more than twice the size of the hotel’s four other dining domes which the owners invested in after the first lockdown.

The bar can also be hired for private functions.

Experiencing huge success, investment was made in the new addition which will be open Friday to Sunday every week from noon to 10.30pm.

Currently it is bookable until March 31, 2022.

Tables in the Titan Sky Bar are available for one hour and a table can hold a maximum of four people. For groups of five or more, separate tables will be offered.

What is inside the dome dining bar?

Situated outside the hotel’s 800-year-old Cave Bar, the dome measures 10 metres in diameter and is wired with a Sonos system, is heated and also boasts air conditioning.

In the evenings, the bar will display coloured shooting lights as darkness appears and the stars come out.

While a range of drinks and cocktails are available to order, no food is served in the Titan Sky Bar  except from nibbles.

A £15 minimum spend per couple for the hour is also in place.

Success of dining domes

As more venues across the region and country continue to invest in their outdoor spaces and experiences, dome dining continues to grow in popularity since its boom during the pandemic.

To date, more 14,000 people have dined in the private domes over the past year they have been operating at Meldrum House, and it has proved to be so successful that the hotel has a waiting list for them most weekends.

Operations manager at the venue, Nicola Downie, anticipates the bar to be as successful as the other domes.

She said: “Titan Sky Bar will complement our dining domes experience. Guests will get a bespoke drinks experience with spectacular views of our iconic manor house, surrounding countryside and the sky above.

“We will be theming the bar every season and serving newly curated cocktails, premium spirits, craft beers and a hand chosen selection of wine and soft drinks, as well as appetisers for guests before or after lunch and dinner.”

The dome has been named after one of the largest moons in the solar system due to its size.

It can also be hired exclusively as an event space from Monday to Thursday at either noon until 4pm or 6pm to 10pm.
